This role serves as the primary point of contact for payroll, benefits, and employee inquiries, while supporting employee relations, onboarding, and recruiting coordination.This position is critical to ensuring accurate, compliant multi-state payroll processing and consistent HR support in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The role is well-suited for candidates with strong payroll experience who are looking to grow within the HR function.Key Responsibilities**Payroll Administration• Process payroll across multiple states for all employees
• Coordinate payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, and adjustments
• Audit payroll data for accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
• Ensure proper handling of multi-state taxation, garnishments, and benefit deductions
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll questions
• Maintain payroll records and ensure timely and accurate processingEmployee Relations & Supervisor Support• Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations matters at the manufacturing plant
• Partner with supervisors on attendance, performance management, and corrective actions
• Provide guidance on company policies and procedures
• Support investigations and documentation of employee relations issues
• Promote a positive employee experience and workplace cultureOnboarding & Recruiting Coordination• Coordinate onboarding for new hires, including orientation and first-day experience
• Ensure completion and accuracy of all new hire documentation
• Support recruiting efforts by:
•• posting roles
• scheduling interviews
• coordinating candidate communication
• conducting initial screenings for hourly roles• Partner with hiring managers to ensure a smooth hiring and onboarding processBenefits & Leave Administration• Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits questions and support
• Coordinate benefit enrollments, changes, and communication
• Administer leave of absence processes (FMLA, personal leave, etc.)
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
• Partner with benefit providers as neededHRIS & Compliance• Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy within HR systems
• Process HR transactions including hires, changes, and terminations
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
• Maintain personnel files and I-9 documentation
• Support audits and reporting as neededGeneral HR Support• Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and management
• Assist in implementing HR programs and initiatives
• Support communication of policies, updates, and organizational changes
• Collaborate with the Senior HR Business Partner on HR priorities and projects**Education & Experience**• 2+ years of payroll experience required, including multi-state payroll processing
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms required
• Prior HR experience is helpful but not required (entry-level HR candidates encouraged)
• Experience in manufacturing or hourly workforce environments is a plus**Skills & Competencies**• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, multi-state taxation, and wage and hour compliance
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel experience preferred)**Work Environment / Physical Demands**• Based onsite at the manufacturing plant
• Regular interaction with employees and supervisors on the production floor
• Occasional support for additional locations as needed
• May require extended periods of standing or sitting
• Some bending, stooping or stretching is required
