The company’s interior design and custom furniture services are available worldwide.The Human Resources Specialist will be based onsite out of our Pico Rivera office and serve as the primary HR point of contact for our workforce. Reporting directly to the VP of HR, this 6-month contract role is responsible for the full spectrum of generalist HR operations: from onboarding and leave administration to compliance and People Ops excellence.The compensation range for this position is $35-40 hourly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding• Own offer letter creation with hiring managers including review and delegation, DocuSign routing, and onboarding task follow-up end-to-end

• Review status change processing and new hire entries within ADP

• Oversee a seamless onboarding experience for all new hires; including coordination with the hiring manager for day one

• Ensure new hires complete all required onboarding activities in the first 3 days of onboarding

• Conduct structured 30/60/90-day check-ins to drive retention and early engagement

• Assist in building interview competency question frameworks to improve hiring qualityLeave, Workers' Compensation & Accommodations• Administer all leaves of absence in full compliance with FMLA, CFRA, and ADA requirements

• Manage workplace accommodation requests and maintain required documentation

• Partner with the Safety Team on the rollout and HR maintenance of HSICompliance & Documentation• Ensure all HR practices strictly comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and reporting requirements

• Maintain compliance with immigration requirements, including I-9 verification, e-verify and audit readiness

• Proactively refresh documentation, workflows, and guidance as regulations evolve — particularly CA-specific requirements

• Manage the offboarding and termination process across multiple states and ensure compliance

• Maintain audit-ready HR documentation at all times, including OSHA logs, posting requirements, and employee filesPeople Operations Excellence• Create and maintain SOPs that support scalable, repeatable, and aligned People Operations processes across Vesta's multi-state environment

• Implement best practices and manage training initiatives including I-9 compliance, Pre-Adverse Action, and Accommodations

• Optimize HRIS system workflows and serve as the liaison for system enhancements and configuration needs across ADP TotalSource and Concentra

• Maintain data integrity across all HR platforms

• Elevate employee-facing communications and HR system guidanceBenefits Administration• Drive consistent employee benefits education and engagement

• Handle Tier-1 benefits inquiries and HRIS system support

• Provide HRIS system tutorials and manager trainingRequirements• 3+ years of HR Generalist or similar experience, preferably in a multi-state, operationally intensive environment (warehouse, logistics, retail, or similar)• Deep working knowledge of California employment law including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PAGA, and wage-and-hour compliance

• Bilingual in Spanish a plus

• Hands-on experience with ADP TotalSource or ADP Workforce Now

• Experience coordinating workers' compensation claims; Concentra familiarity a plus

• Strong SOP writing and process documentation skills

• Highly organized, metrics-oriented, and comfortable operating autonomously onsite

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace tools (Google Sheets, Docs, Drive)Benefits• Paid Sick Leave
