JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Summary: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) provides enterprise clinical leadership for United Regional, the hospital, URPG, and Medical Staff. The CMO serves as the senior physician executive responsible for advancing clinical quality, patient safety, physician alignment, medical staff governance, regulatory readiness, clinical transformation, and evidence-based care. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the CMO partners with executive, physician, nursing, operational, and board leaders to improve patient outcomes, strengthen physician engagement, support strategic growth, and ensure care is delivered with excellence, compassion, efficiency, and integrity.Executive Clinical Leadership• Serves as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

• Provides clinical perspective on strategy, budgeting, program development, operational priorities, and system transformation.

• Advises executive leadership and the Board, as appropriate, on clinical matters affecting quality, safety, access, growth, and performance.Quality, Safety, and Clinical Performance• Leads physician engagement in quality, safety, patient outcomes, utilization, clinical documentation, and evidence-based care.

• Supports development and implementation of clinical protocols, standards, and performance improvement initiatives.

• Serves as physician executive sponsor or advisor for quality, safety, medical management, clinical documentation, ethics, patient relations, compliance, and risk management activities.Medical Staff Governance• Oversees and support effective Medical Staff functions, including credentialing, peer review, bylaws, governance, continuing medical education, and Medical Staff Office operations.

• Provide counsel and support to elected Medical Staff leaders/officers.

• Facilitates appropriate resolution of clinical, professional practice, and behavior concerns in coordination with Medical Staff and hospital leadership.Physician Engagement and Alignment• Serves as the primary executive clinical liaison among the Medical Staff, URPG providers, SLT, and hospital operations.

• Builds trusted relationships with physicians and providers to strengthen communication, collaboration, alignment, and issue resolution.

• Partners with organizational development and provider experience leaders to support physician engagement, recruitment, retention, onboarding, and leadership development.Regulatory, Accreditation, and Compliance• Partners with hospital, nursing, quality, compliance, and medical staff leaders to support compliance with accreditation, licensing, CMS, Medical Staff, and patient care standards.

• Provides clinical leadership and physician input for regulatory readiness and corrective action planning when needed.Clinical Informatics and Transformation• Partners with the CMIO and operational leaders to advance clinical informatics, physician technology adoption, clinical decision support, documentation effectiveness, and data-driven improvement.

• Supports care model innovation, clinical integration, and transformation across the continuum of care.URPG and System Integration• Provides clinical leadership and strategic support to URPG in collaboration with physician practice leadership.

• Supports alignment between URPG, the Medical Staff, hospital operations, and system strategic priorities.External Representation and Other Duties• Represents United Regional in appropriate clinical, physician, community, and regional forums.

• Supports organizational communications on clinical matters when requested.

• Performs other related duties as assignedEducation: Required: MD or equivalent requiredPreferred: MBA/MHA and/or CPE credentialsExperience: • At least 5 years' experience (exclusive of internship/residency) as a practicing physician, preferably in a hospital setting

• At least 5 years' experience in management/leadership at a departmental or organizational level

• Strong track record of clinical skills, performance improvement activities, and consistent commitment to high standards of patient careCertification/Licensure: State of Texas medical license preferredSkills/Abilities:• Ability to engage both physicians and non-physicians in collaborative, communicative relationships that enhance the delivery of patient care quality and safety

• Ability to set and maintain expectations for quality and service standards

• Ability to coordinate the medical staff activities of an integrated delivery system

• Analytic and data management skills specific to physician performance

• Capable of developing and implementing monitoring systems that ensure the highest quality of care patient safety and evidence-based medical standards

• Ability to manage stress and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations

• Ability to make decisions and use independent judgment as needed, while also ensuring appropriate communication and collaboration with others as needed

• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to keep abreast of best practices, from both clinical and health care delivery perspectivesExpectations:Exhibits behaviors consistent with the expectations of a United Regional senior leader, including commitment to values, vision, mission, and strategic focus areas.
