Summary

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist**Specialty: Respiratory CareLocation: AlaskaSummary: Under limited supervision, provides respiratory care for patients across all age groups, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and adult. This role involves performing assessments, administering treatments, managing mechanical ventilation, and educating patients and staff on respiratory procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform respiratory therapy assessments according to department protocols.

• Administer respiratory treatments for acute and chronic respiratory illnesses as prescribed.

• Ensure delivery of clinically appropriate respiratory care procedures.

• Instruct and orient medical staff, allied health professionals, and students on respiratory care.

• Set up, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilation and oxygen support systems; promptly notify physicians of abnormal changes.

• Maintain secure and patent airways; perform suctioning as needed.

• Evaluate test results for clarity and accuracy; distribute results to physicians and service providers.

• Maintain patient charts, enter diagnosis and billing codes, and update patient information systems.

• Provide patient education and answer questions regarding procedures.

• Maintain competency and certification on all current and new procedures and equipment.

• Clean and sterilize equipment and workspace; troubleshoot and refer equipment for repair as needed.

• Train and cross-train other clinical staff as required.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:Education:

• Minimum: Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory TherapyExperience:

• Minimum: One (1) year of critical care and pediatric experience

• Registry eligible therapists must have two (2) years of critical care experience

• Preferred: Experience in the Alaska Tribal Health System; Pediatric and/or Neonatal experienceCertifications:

• Must be registered or registry eligible by the National Board of Respiratory Care

• Registry eligible therapists must obtain Registry within one year of hire

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred at hire, required within six months

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation preferred at hire, required within six months

• Preferred: Registered Respiratory TherapistSchedule: Full-time position; schedule details provided during interviewsSetting: Hospital-based environment serving diverse patient populations.Benefits:
