Team Member (Barista)

Rook Coffee was started in 2010 by childhood friends Holly and Shawn, who left corporate careers to open a 300-square-foot coffee shack at the Jersey Shore. Today Rook runs 11 stores across Monmouth and Ocean County (Long Branch, Red Bank, Little Silver, Oakhurst, Holmdel, Colts Neck, Freehold, Manalapan, Wall, Point Pleasant) plus a roastery and cold brew production facility in Tinton Falls. Team Members are the face and personality of each Rook location, built on three pillars: Quality, Simplicity and Experience.

What you will do:

- Brew coffee and cold brew beverages to Rook recipes and quality standards

- Handle and prepare pastries and other food items

- Keep a neat, orderly workspace and store, and hold high standards for food and workplace safety

- Deliver over-the-top customer service using the GRINDS service model and build relationships with regulars

- Serve as point of contact for the store when the manager is out: opening or closing, cash counts and daily deposit, daily task flow, customer conflict resolution

What we look for:

- Weekend availability and the desire to stay at Rook for at least 6 months

- At least three months of experience as a barista or in an equivalent fast-paced restaurant or retail customer service role

- High school diploma or equivalent

- A positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, genuine personality

- Able to lift or move 45 pounds, stand for extended periods, and stay calm and organized during peak hours

Schedules and pay:

Part time, hourly. Published pay is $19 to $22 per hour. Team Members are currently being hired at Long Branch, Red Bank, Little Silver, Oakhurst, Colts Neck, Freehold, Manalapan and Wall.
