About this role

Description SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our company supporting Platform Protections and IR/RF Countermeasures projects. This role involves comprehensive design, development, testing, and engineering of air-expendable countermeasures, including pyrophoric, pyrotechnic, chaff, and active electronic systems. The successful candidate will ensure technical rigor and adherence to performance requirements, DoD standards, and advanced manufacturing processes while contributing to cutting-edge innovations and maintaining compliance with industry and governmental standards.


Key Responsibilities

+ Facilitate the design engineering, acquisition, test and evaluation (T&E), qualification, and configuration management for a diverse portfolio of air-expendable countermeasures.

+ Perform technical reviews of reports and technical documents, including but not limited to:

+ Performance Specifications

+ Drawings

+ Technical Data Packages (TDPs)

+ Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)

+ Automated Drawing Lists (ADLs)

+ Qualification/Fielding and acquisition-related documentation

+ Ensure all documentation complies with applicable industry, government, and DoD standards.

+ Design and implement enhancements to air-expendable countermeasure systems to improve performance, cost, safety, and/or reliability.

+ Plan, schedule, and coordinate activities and resources for testing to validate systems meet all functional and technical requirements.

+ Define procedures and acceptance criteria for testing of systems, subsystems, equipment, and components.

+ Document and analyze discrepancies identified during testing operations and recommend corrective actions. Support design improvements for existing and next-generation expendable countermeasures, leveraging advanced manufacturing methodologies and ensuring strict adherence to performance requirements.


Qualifications


Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in


Mechanical Engineering and two (2) or more years of experience, Masters and zero (0).

+ Strong background in mechanical engineering principles, particularly in the design, T&E, and qualification of military systems.

+ Proven ability to develop and review technical documentation such as TDPs, ECPs, ADLs, and performance specifications with strict attention to detail.

+ Knowledge of industry and DoD standards governing air-expendable countermeasures.

+ Familiarity with advanced manufacturing methodologies and their integration into product design.

+ Experience in planning and executing test operations, including the preparation of actionable documentation for resolving technical discrepancies.

+ Ability to travel up to 10-20% to support testing, stakeholder coordination, and project oversight.


Preferred Skills

+ Familiarity with pyrophoric, pyrotechnic, chaff, and active electronic systems.

+ Experience with configuration management and engineering processes for military systems.

+ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
