Water/Wastewater Engineer Location: Newark, NJ

Compensation: $110-140k/yearPennoni is seeking a highly motivated Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our Newark, New Jersey office. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful water and wastewater infrastructure projects while advancing your career within a supportive, team-oriented environment. Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering designs, technical specifications, and construction documents for water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and treatment facilities

• Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling to evaluate and optimize system performance and capacity

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including coordination of environmental permitting requirements

• Support municipalities and utility clients with NJDEP compliance initiatives related to drinking water and wastewater regulations, reporting, and infrastructure planning

• Provide engineering services during construction, including shop drawing review, responses to RFIs, and site visits

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, high-quality technical solutions

• Prepare proposals/scopes of work and associated design fee estimates in support of targeting work.

• Identifying potential clients and assisting in pursuit of opportunities as required

• Serve as a client point of contact, fostering strong relationships and ensuring exceptional service delivery Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in water/wastewater engineering, including design and project coordination

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling software such as EPANET, WaterCAD, and SewerGEMS

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report preparation Why Pennoni?
