About this role
Miller Pipeline is one of the largest natural gas pipeline installation and service companies in the country, operating across 23+ states. Our Claims Manager will independently manage a high-volume portfolio of general liability, auto, and workers' compensation claims arising from pipeline construction and utility operations.The majority of our GL claims involve underground utility strikes (dig-ins)
- a specialized claim type we'll fully train you on. If you've handled commercial auto or GL claims and know how to manage litigation, defense counsel, and reserves, you're already most of the way there!
What You'll DoYou'll carry your own file load and operate with meaningful autonomy.Key responsibilities:
• Independently manage primarily utility damage claims with some auto, and limited WC claims from first notice through resolution.
• Investigate liability on dig-in (underground utility strike) claims
- we'll train you on 811 compliance, locate ticket analysis, and tolerance zone standards.
• Coordinate with field personnel to collect incident documentation: bore logs, locate records, Stop Work Authority records, and photos.
• Manage reserves, set coverage positions, and lead settlement negotiations.
• Direct outside defense counsel on litigated matters; attend mediations and depositions as needed.
• Pursue subrogation recovery against negligent locating companies and utilities.
• Coordinate with Zurich (primary carrier) and (TPA), and multi-state adjusters.
• Manage claim activity in RiskConnect RMIS including reserve setting and loss reporting.
• Provide data for quarterly claim reviews and loss trend analysis.
• Mentor Claims Specialist staff and assist with field-level training.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications:
• 3+ years of claims experience in commercial auto, general liability, or workers' compensation.
• Strong analytical skills
- comfortable assessing liability, setting reserves, making decisions.
• Self-directed with ability to manage a high-volume file load independently.
• Proficiency with MS Office and claims management systems.A Plus (but not required)
• Construction, utility, or contractor industry experience.
• Experience managing litigated files and working with defense counsel.
• Familiarity with high-deductible insurance programs and TPA coordination.
• Underground utility damage claims or 811 one-call compliance experience.
• Multi-state claims experience.
• Bachelor's degree or adjuster's license / insurance designation.
