This is on-campus position at the Boston CampusThe Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive day-to-day human resources support to faculty, staff, and student employees across the College. This role administers core HR functions including recruitment and onboarding, HRIS administration, payroll coordination, policy interpretation, and employee support.The Human Resources Generalist serves as a resource to employees and supervisors on HR policies and procedures and helps ensure HR operations are conducted in compliance with institutional policies and applicable employment laws. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative higher education environment.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities include:Talent Acquisition and Onboarding

• Support recruitment and hiring processes for faculty, staff, and student employees in collaboration with hiring managers.

• Coordinate onboarding processes including preparation of employment documentation, background checks, and new hire orientation.

• Ensure completion and accuracy of required employment forms and documentation.

• Facilitate a positive onboarding experience for new employees and provide guidance to departments on onboarding practices.

• Administer hiring and onboarding processes for student employees, including employment documentation, HRIS entry, and coordination with payroll.HRIS Administration

• Maintain and update employee data in the HRIS system, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

• Process personnel actions including new hires, status changes, compensation updates, and separations.

• Generate routine HR reports and assist with data audits as needed.

• Provide support to employees and managers regarding HRIS access and system navigation.Payroll Coordination

• Review and submit payroll changes including new hires, compensation adjustments, and terminations.

• Coordinate with payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing.

• Assist employees with payroll-related questions and help resolve issues as they arise.Policy Interpretation and HR Support

• Serve as a point of contact for employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.

• Provide guidance on routine employee relations matters and refer complex issues to the Director of Human Resources.

• Assist in ensuring consistent and fair application of policies across departments.Benefits and Leave Administration Support

• Assist employees with benefits enrollment and changes.

• Provide general information regarding benefits programs and coordinate with external vendors as needed.

• Support administration of employee leave programs and maintain related documentation.Compliance and Recordkeeping

• Maintain personnel records in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

• Assist with HR compliance activities, audits, and required reporting.

• Ensure HR processes align with federal and state employment regulations.Additional HR Support

• Participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR processes and employee experience.

• Support HR communications, training efforts, and departmental initiatives.

• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Human Resources function.


Qualifications


Requirements for the position include:Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.Experience

• Minimum three (3) years of professional human resources experience, preferably in higher education or a similar organizational environment.

• Experience with HRIS systems required; experience with Paycom is preferred.

• Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, payroll coordination, and general HR administration.Certifications

• SHRM-CP certification desirable or the ability to obtain professional HR certification over time.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, payroll processes, HRIS administration, and policy interpretation.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive information.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems.Work Environment

• This position operates in a professional office environment within a higher education setting and requires regular interaction with faculty, staff, and campus leadership.

• The position requires 7-8 hours of desk work involving repetitive keyboarding, ongoing use of the computer and telephone, and frequent faculty, student and staff interactions.
