As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of full‑stack engineers responsible for FoodStorm’s Order Management Platform, driving both technical and product initiatives that enable retailers to scale their operations. Your work will directly influence how enterprise partners manage orders, production, fulfillment, and integrations.You will join a small, high‑impact engineering team operating like a scale‑up within the support structure of a public Silicon Valley tech company. The role offers full time work from home or access to offices based in Melbourne, competitive salary and additional employee benefits.About the Job• Lead a team of engineers across backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure to deliver scalable and secure software• Collaborate on, and drive the execution of a clear technical and product vision aligned with FoodStorm and Instacart’s platform strategy• Serve as a technical authority in full‑stack engineering, overseeing the lifecycle of backend services, APIs, integrations, and UI components• Guide the team through complex architectural decisions and implementation of secure, reliable, cloud‑native systems• Partner with broader Instacart teams to support retailer integrations and cross‑platform technical initiatives• Oversee production systems, ensuring enterprise‑grade reliability, performance, and incident response• Drive process improvements that increase engineering efficiency, predictability, and quality• Support hiring, onboarding, growth, and mentorship for engineers• Promote best practices in coding, testing, documentation, observability, CI/CD, and security• Apply pragmatic decision‑making, balancing business priorities with secure and scalable solutionsAbout YouMinimum Qualifications• Proven track record as a hands‑on technical leader or engineering manager• 2+ years experience managing teams of 6+ engineers• 8+ years experience in web application engineering• Highly proficient in React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript• Highly proficient in Microsoft .NET and C#• Highly proficient in Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Azure (T‑SQL, schema design, stored procedures)• Strong experience delivering secure software aligned to OWASP standards• Experience with Azure services, AKS, and cloud‑native architectures• Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure‑as‑code practices• Ability to craft and execute engineering roadmaps aligned to product goals• Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent• Strong cross‑functional collaboration experience with Product, Professional Services, or customer‑facing teams• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills• Structured, proactive communication and strong stakeholder managementPreferred Qualifications• Experience with Go, Rust, or Ruby frameworks• Experience building enterprise‑grade or retailer‑facing systems• Experience working directly with customers or partners in a technical capacity• Experience enabling developer productivity and velocity, including AI‑supported development• Experience driving 0‑1 technical or product innovation• A leadership style grounded in trust, clarity, and empowerment• Pragmatism and business awareness in technical decision‑making• Strong ability to navigate both a startup‑like environment and Instacart‑scale operations• A passion for building great teams and great software#LI-Remote
