Employment Counselor / Job Coach

Waters & Sims Employment Services, Inc. was established in July 1996 to fill a niche in quality Supported Employment services for adults with disabilities, transition students, Work First New Jersey participants and at-risk youth. Waters & Sims is a CARF accredited, approved Supported Employment vendor for the NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, the Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired and the Division of Developmental Disabilities, and serves Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex Counties from offices in Tinton Falls (106 Apple Street, Unit 107) and Toms River. Waters & Sims is now affiliated with Merakey.

What you will do:

- Provide job development services: network with local employers and develop competitive, integrated jobs for the people you support

- Coach individuals on the job site to learn job duties, follow schedules and company policies, and overcome barriers

- Conduct site visits and provide long-term follow-along support so people keep their jobs

- Maintain relationships with employers, families, schools and referral agencies

- Keep accurate case records and documentation for state funding partners

What we look for:

- Patience, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a belief that everyone can work

- Experience with people with disabilities, human services, education or workforce development is a plus

- A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle to travel to job sites across the county

- Ability to pass a background check

- Flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends when a client's schedule calls for it

Schedules and pay:

Full time, generally Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM with flexibility around client work schedules. Pay is discussed at the interview.
