Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Everas Community Services is a New Jersey nonprofit that has supported adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, deaf-blindness and complex medical and behavioral needs for more than 40 years, with residential programs across ten counties including Monmouth (Manalapan, Howell, Eatontown and Millstone). We are hiring Direct Support Professionals for our Monmouth County group homes and will be meeting candidates at the Monmouth County Fall Job Fair on Sept 16 at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft.

What you will do:

- Support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting, including people with complex medical and behavioral support needs

- Help with daily living: meals, hygiene, medication administration once trained, mobility support and physical transfers

- Take people you support into the community for activities, appointments and errands

- Follow each person's support plan and positive behavior support strategies

- Document care and communicate clearly with the team and families

What we look for:

- Comfort with hands-on hygiene support and total care for people with physical support needs

- Strong interpersonal communication, problem solving and writing skills

- Basic computer skills for documentation

- Ability to pass and maintain required trainings including CPR and First Aid, medication administration and positive behavioral support

- Ability to complete a mandatory five-day paid orientation and professional skills training at agency headquarters in Somerset, NJ

- Background check as required for working with vulnerable adults

Schedules and pay: full-time and part-time schedules in 24/7 residential programs. Pay is $22.00 per hour plus an additional $2.00 per hour for shifts beginning Friday at 11pm through Sunday at 11pm. Everas offers comprehensive benefit plans and extensive paid training.
