Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.AUTOMATION & CONTROLS SPECIALIST (ASSET ENGINEERING)As an Automation & Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for building and commissioning automated machinery that manufactures and tests product lines including Falcon, Dragon, Starshield, and Starship. You will work hands-on with a team of automation engineers and specialists to bring solutions to life and unlock the full capacity of our Hawthorne factory.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Own industrial automation projects in collaboration with engineers, specialists, and technicians from multiple teams• Wire and commission new electro-mechanical automated machinery• Draft and redline electrical, mechanical, and fluid schematics• Provide expert build support and design insight to automation engineers throughout machine development• Configure and test controls hardware (sensors, actuators, drives) during commissioning• Provide troubleshooting support to resolve issues on new and existing automated machineryBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:• High school diploma or GED equivalency certificate• 1+ years of experience building and troubleshooting low voltage electrical systems OR an associate’s degree in an electrical, controls, or automation disciplinePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:• Strong experience with power and hand tools• Experience reading electrical and pneumatic drawings• Experience building, wiring, and testing industrial control panels• Experience troubleshooting and/or programming PLCs, HMIs, or microcontrollers• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and devices with tools such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes• Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety), NFPA 79 & UL508A codes• Experience with industrial 6DOF robotics systems (ABB, Kuka or Fanuc)• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Excellent skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint• Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills; a team player, yet able to work independently when necessaryADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:• Available to work overtime and weekends as needed• Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings• Must be able to lift up to 25lbs unassisted• Occasional travel to other SpaceX or 3rd party facilities, up to 10%• Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and VandenbergCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:
Automation & Controls Specialist /Level 1: $30.00 - $38.00/hour
Automation & Controls Specialist/Level 2: $34.00 - $43.00/hour
Automation & Controls Specialist/Level 3: $38.00 - $48.00/hourYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
