About this role

A leading public healthcare system is seeking experienced Certified Medical Coders to support outpatient and emergency department coding operations within an acute care environment. This role requires strong technical expertise, accuracy, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities: Perform accurate medical coding for outpatient and emergency department encounters in an acute care setting Apply ICD-10, CPT-4, and other coding systems in compliance with regulatory and payer guidelines Utilize coding tools and systems such as EPIC and 3M/HDS encoder applications Review clinical documentation to ensure accurate code assignment Ensure compliance with federal billing, reimbursement, and payer-specific guidelines Research and resolve coding discrepancies or issues Maintain productivity and quality standards with minimal supervision Support coder training and knowledge sharing as needed Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required Certification required: CCS or CCP (AHIMA), RHIA or RHIT required Minimum 4+ years of outpatient medical coding experience required Required experience in Emergency Department (ED) coding Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4, and coding guidelines Experience with EPIC and 3M/HDS coding applications required Solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes Proficiency in MS Word and Excel Ability to work independently with minimal training "Please note that the salary range and/or hourly rate range of $30.00/hr
