About this role
The YMCA of the Jersey Shore is a nonprofit founded in 1874 in Red Bank that serves families across Monmouth, Middlesex, Ocean and Mercer Counties through the Red Bank, Freehold and Old Bridge Family YMCAs, Camp Zehnder, and before and after school programs in nearly 100 schools. We are hiring Assistant Site Supervisors for our school-age child care sites and will be meeting candidates at the Monmouth County Fall Job Fair on Sept 16 at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft.
What you will do:
- Help prepare, implement and supervise activities for children in before or after school programs
- Keep children safe and engaged with games, homework help, arts and enrichment
- Support the Site Supervisor with the site environment, sign-in and sign-out, and daily routines
- Communicate warmly with parents and school staff
- Model YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
What we look for:
- At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with school-age children
- Ability to relate well to young children and stay calm and positive
- Reliable transportation to a school site in Monmouth County (sites include Freehold, Matawan, Middletown and Manalapan districts)
- Background check and fingerprinting as required for working with children
Schedules and pay: part-time shifts of 7 to 9am and/or 3 to 6pm, Monday to Friday, September through June, at school sites throughout Monmouth County. Published pay is $17.00 to $18.00 per hour. The Y also hires lifeguards, swim instructors, Kids Club associates and welcome center staff at its Red Bank, Freehold and Old Bridge branches with flexible part-time hours.
