Job Description
The Metrology Technician II is a vital role within the Validation Department, responsible for leading calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities for production, laboratory, and testing instruments. This position ensures the precise execution of calibration schedules, resolves complex instrumentation issues, and supports the development of junior staff, all while adhering to regulatory standards and company policies.Responsibilities• Perform and lead calibrations on production, laboratory, and testing equipment in compliance with cGMP regulatory requirements.
• Ensure adherence to calibration schedules and proper documentation of results.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex instrumentation issues and coordinate with external vendors for major repairs as needed.
• Supervise in-house repairs of critical instruments to ensure timely and efficient resolution.
• Maintain accurate and complete calibration and repair records in compliance with cGMP guidelines.
• Collaborate with the Metrology Supervisor to identify areas for process improvement, recommending and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Oversee and perform temperature mapping activities across the facility, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Support the Validation Department by assisting with instrument qualifications, process qualifications, and other validation activities as needed.
• Assist the Metrology Supervisor in coordinating with external vendors for calibration services, repairs, and equipment purchasing.
• Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff to ensure consistent compliance.
Essential Skills• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, computer engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Capability to read, analyze, and understand scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Work Environment
The position requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, talking, and hearing. Occasionally, the role may require reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision. Eye protection must be worn. Computer keyboarding, monitor and mouse use, including reaching forward, grasping, finger and wrist manipulations, and neck bending and turning near vision is necessary for computer monitor use. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.Job Title: Metrology Technician II Department: Validation Reports To: Metrology Supervisor Status: Full Time/Non-Exempt JOB SUMMARY: The Metrology Technician II leads calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities for production, laboratory, and testing instruments. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate execution of calibration schedules, resolving complex instrumentation issues, and supporting the development of junior staff. The Senior Metrology Technician works closely with the Metrology Supervisor to ensure all metrology activities comply with regulatory standards and company policies. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Calibration Execution and Oversight: Perform and lead calibrations on production, laboratory, and testing equipment in compliance with regulatory requirements (cGMP). Ensure that calibration schedules are adhered to, and results are properly documented. 2. Troubleshooting and Repairs: Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex instrumentation issues and coordinate with external vendors for major repairs as needed. Supervise in-house repairs of critical instruments to ensure timely and efficient resolution. 3. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and complete calibration and repair records in accordance with cGMP guidelines. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. 4. Process Improvement: Collaborate with the Metrology Supervisor to identify areas for process improvement within the metrology function, recommending and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and compliance. 5. Temperature Mapping: Oversee and perform temperature mapping activities across the facility, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards. 6. Collaboration and Support: Support the Validation Department by assisting with instrument qualifications, process qualifications, and other validation activities as needed. 7. Vendor Management Support: Assist the Metrology Supervisor in coordinating with external vendors for calibration services, repairs, and equipment purchasing. 8. Compliance and Leadership: Ensure all assigned tasks are completed with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff to ensure consistent compliance. 9. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Metrology Supervisor. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A Bachelors’ degree in such fields as engineering, science, computer engineering, etc. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: This position requires the individual to be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated and to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to read, analyze, and understand scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Decision making, communication, planning and critical thinking skills are a must. Analytical ability / problem solving, critical thinking skills along with accuracy is required.
